SuperCharge! Fitness Fun Run

Come to the Burlington City Park Track Feb. 18 from 9-11 am to participate in a FREE SuperCharge! Alamance Fitness Fun Run. Prizes will be given to race winners and to the best-dressed participant in the super hero costume contest.

Elon Law WLA’s 4th Annual 5k Race for Women’s Health

The Equinoxalizer 4 Miler
Durham – 8:00AM
This four-mile race is organized by members of the Duke University Cross Country team to support Communities In Schools, a national organization that works to determine student needs and partner with local businesses and agencies to provide needed resources.
The race starts at the Durham Performing Arts Center in downtown Durham, looping around the city center. Link to information and registration here:

The Equinoxalizer 4 miler is also doubling as the North Carolina State
4 mile championships with $2000 in prize money available. Age group prizes along with gift bags will be given out. If we round up 15 runners who want to sign up, organizers will offer us a discount.

Girls on the Run of the Triangle 10th Annual 5k and Fun Run

Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a life changing, character development program for girls, ages 8-12, that uses running as a way to introduce healthy lifestyle choices. Last year’s 5k event was their largest yet, with over 1,200 runners crossing the finish line.

Krispy Kreme Challenge
Raleigh
Total distance is 5 miles, but the “challenge” is to eat a dozen donuts at the mid-way point in the race. You can also opt to run as a “casual runner” and just get your box of donuts (eat as many as you want), and carry the box back with you.Find out more at: http://www.krispykremechallenge.com

MRC New Runners’ Program Begins

The Spring 2012 New Runners’ Program is set to start on February 7, and will last for 10 weeks culminating with the Dogwood 5k on April 27.
February 12
St. Valentines Massacre Marathon Relay Race
Greensboro Country Park
Basically it is a marathon—but you don’t have to do it alone! Team up with other runners and take turns running 1.6 miles (each team of 4) until your team has completed a marathon (4 laps for that team of 4)! First person runs 2.2 miles on the first lap.
Teams are forming now! Start talking to your running buddies and forming teams. Then email us your team name w/members or if you want to go but don’t have a team – excellent!! Email us your pace and we will put you on a team with others who are looking forward to fun, too! **Please note: each team will choose a captain who will register their team. Information about carpooling, meeting times, supplies and post-run celebrations will be coming later….

• A “more the merrier” race, as we will have MRC canopies up and lots of folks cheering you on as you run.
• You can register for different competitive groups—age divisions, weight divisions, you can do the entire marathon yourself, split it between just two people—customize it the way you want—just don’t miss it!!
Kids’ Team
There will be a bunch of cheering kids (and adults) at the event with the MRC team. If your child might be interested in running 3.2 miles – two 1.6 mile loops with rest in-between as part of an 8 person co-ed kids team, please contact Tammy R. We are looking to put together a team of kids – ages approximately 6-12 to compete. $15 per kid and should include a sweatshirt.
