May 19: Got Grit? 5K (Hillsborough, NC)
Register online at active.com or print and mail the registration form (page 2). No shirts! This year, 5K participants receive a ‘Run Dri’ running cap with the got grit? logo. The first 300 registrants also receive a custom pair of ‘aireators/speedes’ socks.

“THIS RACE BLOWS” is an event for the whole family to enjoy! Activities for the kids, and a post-race concert by GREEN ARMY MEN. 1 mile race will be an unofficially timed, flat route perfect for strollers, families, and wee ones to run or walk.
5K race will be officially timed on a course of rolling hills. One water station will be located on the course. Childcare services will be available for children (ages 3 and up) whose parents are participating in the 5K race at no additional charge.
Pricing:
Adults: Before May 9, 2012: $25; After May 9, 2012: $35
Children ages 3-15: $15; Children under 2: free
T-shirts guaranteed if registered by May 18, 2012
Minimum age is 6 for 5k race; no minimum age for 1 mile race
Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult
Admission to the concert by Green Army Men and the KidZone is free if participant is registered for a race. Cost is $10/person (ages 2 and over) to attend if not registered for a race.

The Burlington Royals Minor League Baseball Team and OT Sports would like to invite you to participate in our 5K Race benefitting the Autism Society of North Carolina on Saturday, August 25th at 9am at the Burlington Athletic Stadium.

February 4: Krispy Kreme Challenge (Raleigh, NC)
Total distance is 5 miles, but the “challenge” is to eat a dozen donuts at the mid-way point in the race. You can also opt to run as a “casual runner” and just get your box of donuts (eat as many as you want), and carry the box back with you.Find out more at: http://www.krispykremechallenge.com

February 7: MRC New Runners’ Program Begins (Mebane, NC)
The Spring 2012 New Runners’ Program is set to start on February 7, and will last for 10 weeks culminating with the Dogwood 5k on April 27.
February 12: St. Valentines Massacre Marathon Relay Race
Greensboro Country Park
Basically it is a marathon—but you don’t have to do it alone! Team up with other runners and take turns running 1.6 miles (each team of 4) until your team has completed a marathon (4 laps for that team of 4)! First person runs 2.2 miles on the first lap.
Teams are forming now! Start talking to your running buddies and forming teams. Then email us your team name w/members or if you want to go but don’t have a team – excellent!! Email us your pace and we will put you on a team with others who are looking forward to fun, too! **Please note: each team will choose a captain who will register their team. Information about carpooling, meeting times, supplies and post-run celebrations will be coming later….

• A “more the merrier” race, as we will have MRC canopies up and lots of folks cheering you on as you run.

Kids’ Team
There will be a bunch of cheering kids (and adults) at the event with the MRC team. If your child might be interested in running 3.2 miles – two 1.6 mile loops with rest in-between as part of an 8 person co-ed kids team, please contact Tammy R. We are looking to put together a team of kids – ages approximately 6-12 to compete. $15 per kid and should include a sweatshirt.
February 18: SuperCharge! Fitness Fun Run (Burlington, NC)
City Park Track – 9:00AM
Come to the Burlington City Park Track Feb. 18 from 9-11 am to participate in a FREE SuperCharge! Alamance Fitness Fun Run. Prizes will be given to race winners and to the best-dressed participant in the super hero costume contest.
March 10: Elon Law WLA’s 4th Annual 5k Race for Women’s Health (Gibsonville, NC)

March 17: The Equinoxalizer 4 Miler (Durham, NC)
This four-mile race is organized by members of the Duke University Cross Country team to support Communities In Schools, a national organization that works to determine student needs and partner with local businesses and agencies to provide needed resources.

The Equinoxalizer 4 miler is also doubling as the North Carolina State 4 mile championships with $2000 in prize money available. Age group prizes along with gift bags will be given out. If we round up 15 runners who want to sign up, organizers will offer us a discount.

The Nike Team at the Mebane Tanger Outlet would like to invite you to participate in the Journey 4 A Better World community event. The event is a 3.65 mile run starting at 5:30 pm, Monday, April 2,2012, and 7:00 am, Tuesday, April 3,2012.
The objective of the event is to promote awareness and education for the community through sport and community involvement to address best practices for recycling, managing energy and waste. April 14: Girls on the Run of the Triangle 10th Annual 5k and Fun Run (Durham, NC)
American Tobacco Campus – 9:00AM
Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a life changing, character development program for girls, ages 8-12, that uses running as a way to introduce healthy lifestyle choices. Last year’s 5k event was their largest yet, with over 1,200 runners crossing the finish line.

April 14: A Race to Walk 5K (Greensboro, NC)
A Race to Walk 5K (and Fun Run.. or walk.. crawl…skateboard…wagon?) will take place on Saturday, April 14th at 9am (with festivities going from 8-11am) at the Atlantic Coast Conference office, near Grandover Resort, in Greensboro. 100% of the proceeds support Seth in his race to walk. If you’re around that day and want to burn some calories (and then replenish those calories with a beer on me afterwards), while supporting a wonderful cause, it would be great to see you there. We’ll have live music, local food, games, inflatables for kids, an auction with great sports memorabilia, a prize for the top canine finisher, etc.

The Mebane Dogwood Festival USATF Certified 5K Night Race will be on Friday, April 27th, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. Race will begin at E.M. Yoder Elementary School 301 Charles Street, Mebane, NC. April 28: Sandy Feet 5K (Matthews NC)
The Sandy Feet 5K & Fun Run will be held at Stumptown Park. The race will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training.
The 5K will start at 8:00AM and the Fun Run will follow at 8:15AM.
April 28: Primal Mud Run (Selma, NC)
The run takes place on a beautiful 750 acre tree farm, the race will cover approximately 5 miles and feature over 20 obstacles. There are elite runner categories that offer prizes to the top finishers. These elite waves will be the first ones on the course in the morning to ensure that they have an unobstructed run through the course. For those that just wish to run a challenging and fun event then you can select your own start time.

Duke East Campus Trail
The Poker 5K Run for Sarcoma Research will be held around the Duke East Campus Trail. The race will not be officially timed but we will award prizes to the fastest runners in addition to those with the best “poker hands”- a fun twist on the traditional 5K.
